유전자 개요
이 유전자는 세포 이동, 활성화, 증식, 접촉 및 특수 막 영역 유지와 같은 활동에서 핵심 역할을 하며, 막 단백질을 하부 세포골격(cytoskeleton)에 연결하는 단백질 계열인 안키린(ankyrin)을 암호화한다. 다양한 표적 단백질에 대한 친화도가 다른 여러 안키린 아이소폼(isoform)은 조직 특이적이고 발달적으로 조절되는 방식으로 발현된다. 근육 특이적 단축형 안키린 1 동질형은 대체 프로모터(promoter) 사용으로 인해 확인되었다.
