유전자 개요
이 유전자는 시냅스 소포(synaptic vesicles)의 세포질 표면과 관련된 단백질을 암호화한다. 유방암(breast cancer)을 앓고 있는 경직인간 증후군(stiff-man syndrome) 환자의 일부에서 이 단백질에 대한 자가항체가 발견된다. 이 유전자의 대체 스플라이싱(alternate splicing)은 서로 다른 아이소폼(isoforms)을 암호화하는 두 가지 전사체 변이체(transcript variants)를 만들어낸다. 추가적인 스플라이스 변이체(splice variants)가 보고되었으나, 이들의 전체 서열은 아직 결정되지 않았다. 이 유전자의 유사 위유전자(pseudogene)는 염색체 11번에서 발견된다.
