유전자 개요
ADD1이 암호화하는 단백질은 세 개의 유전자(알파, 베타, 감마)로 암호화되는 세포골격 단백질(cytoskeletal protein) 계열인 애듀신(adducin)의 알파 소단위체(alpha subunit)다. 애듀신은 서로 관련된 알파, 베타 또는 감마 소단위체의 이종이량체(heterodimer)로 작용하며, 알파 및 베타 애듀신은 단백질 분해효소(protease) 저항성 N-말단 영역과 분해효소 민감성의 친수성 C-말단 영역을 포함한다. 또한 애듀신은 Ca(2+)/칼모듈린(calmodulin)에 높은 친화도로 결합하고 단백질 키나아제(protein kinase) A 및 C의 기질(substrate)로 작용한다.
