유전자 개요

이 유전자는 아코니타제/IPM 이성질체효소(isomerase) 계열에 속하는 단백질을 지정한다. 이 효소는 TCA 회로의 두 번째 단계에서 시트르산(citrate)과 이소시트르산(isocitrate) 간의 시스-아코니테이트(cis-aconitate)를 매개로 한 상호 전환을 촉매한다. 이 단백질은 세포핵(nucleus)에서 암호화되며 미토콘드리아(mitochondrion)에서 기능을 수행한다. 산화 변형 후에 세린 단백질분해효소 15(serine protease 15, PRSS15), 또는 Lon 프로테아제(Lon protease)로 알려진 효소에 의해 우선적으로 분해되는 미토콘드리아 기질 단백질 중 하나임이 밝혀졌다.
